Nanoleaf have become a leader in the lighting game in recent years. Their products are innovative and easy to install. They have managed to pinpoint the perfect product for their customer base.
Everyone knows the stylish Nanoleaf shapes and lines that adorn many Twitch streams. The company’s latest venture into floor lighting is just as sleek and innovative as its other products.
The multicoloured floor lamp is thin and stylish. It gives off a decent amount of light to illuminate any space. It easily syncs with Nanoleaf so you can choose from premade scenes. You can also create and customise your own colours to suit your space.
Setup
Setting the lamp up was ridiculously simple. There are three cylinders to connect; you screw them in place with the mini screws and Allen key provided in the installation pack.
The lighting tube clicks easily into the space, and you connect the controller box and then the power cable. When clicking the tubing into place, it does feel like you may break something; fortunately, it’s all very straightforward and comes together very quickly and easily. The circular base is solid and small enough not to protrude.
There are several ways that you can set up the lamp. You can do it manually through the attached physical controller. The functions here are quite basic; you can easily turn them on and off, and the music sync option is controlled from here. The preferred way is through your smart device using the Nanoleaf app.
You can upgrade the software on the device and create and implement schedules that link in with other Matter-compatible products. The preset scenes are varied and offer a range of options to create different moods. You can save these to your favourites, you can also move to a colour palette to make your own scene, or make it all one colour. You can also select the reactiveness to sound, so you can potentially have this sync up to a movie or audio if you are into that effect.
Lighting Magic
There is an AI Magic Scene feature in the app, which lets you type in some words, and it will generate a scene based on this. It was a bit hit and miss for me; some were innovative and clever, and others didn’t work.
It really is a hit or miss depending on what you are looking for. This has been a feature of the Nanoleaf app for a while now, and it is evolving as the system is learning more, so hopefully it will get better over time. You can easily add the lamp to your Apple Home or Google Home and have it form part of a room setup and routines. This is not a necessity, but fantastic compatibility to fit into your current Smart Home ecosystem.

If you aren’t right near a wall outlet, the cable is 2.5 metres, so you do have some wiggle room here if you need it. You can place it facing a wall, and the strong 72 individual LED lights work best about 20cm away from the wall. It’s a perfect set-and-forget setup for a Nanoleaf light that perfectly illuminates any room.
Verdict & Value
The modestly priced A$149 for one lamp makes this incredibly accessible. It easily slides into your existing Nanoleaf setup and can also be added to your home in Google or Apple hubs (as long as they are using Matter).
It’s sleek, stylish and fully customisable, making this the perfect solution for customised lighting in your home.
