Track of the Day: Miami Horror “Restless” (2019)

It’s great to see Melbourne electronica funksters Miami Horror back with new music. “Restless” is their latest release. It’s got a lovely cruisy feel to it, a little bit of R&B and some really beautiful soulful vocals. The electronica is deftly fused with the guitars, drums and delicate keys.

It’s nearly 2 years since their breakthrough EP The Shapes was released. Founder and producer Benjamin Plant, describes the genesis of the new materical:
“The Shapes’ was always meant to be a one-off conceptual project, so once that was complete I began moving back towards the original creative process that Miami Horror started with; a simpler approach to production and a continued emphasize on outside vocalists.” He continues, “For me, music has always been about completing a vision and trying to make something stand out. Allowing outside collaboration really opens me up to complete that vision without being restricted to my own skill set.”

The video was directed by Keenan Wetzel (Haux, Aishu Badru), and features some 70’s tennis. Given Wimbledon is on at the moment, full respect to the all-whites and wooden rackets. There’s a girl and a guy getting fresh nicely blended with a healthy dose of humour. If only it had Donny Benet in it, it would really tick all the boxes. Grab yourself a tequila sunrise and get your funk on to Restless.
