Track of the Day: GL “Pistachio” (2020)

Melbourne electronic-pop duo GL have just dropped their first single of the year, “Pistachio”. In further good news for the band, they’ve announced that their forthcoming sophomore album,  You Read My Mind, will be released on the 25th September on their own label, Pool Records. “Pistachio” follows on from “Night Habit” which was released in September last year. Both tracks will feature on the new album.

“Pistachio” is textbook GL, with Ella Thompson‘s dreamy vocals transported over the punchy beats provided by Graeme Pogson. This is bound to be a dancefloor favourite when the good times come back.

GL said of the track “Pistachio – apart from being the most delicious of all nuts, is about reconciling memories and past versions of ourselves. Beneath our hard shells, we all want to share our secrets with somebody. Recorded at Swimming Pool Studio in Fitzroy, Pistachio was the final ingredient needed to complete our new album.”

Amen to that. In the meantime, give it a listen below. “Pistachio” is out now via Pool Records.
