Track of the Day: Georgie Fahey “Soldier” (2019)

Last month, for the first time in the almost 12 year history of the AU review, we were thrilled to offer one lucky winner a coveted Track of the Day spot on the AU review. And today we’re excited to announce that the winner of that competition is Georgie Fahey, a 16 year old artist from the Central Coast. Her track “Soldier” and its accompanying video, really blew us away.

The competition was part of the launch of a new website called Loudar, an Aussie start up which is giving artists the chance to win thousands of dollars just by uploading their music videos and encouraging fans to vote. We were given the opportunity to choose our own winner from the pack, and Georgie’s video – which came out halfway through lastyear (proving the platform a great opportunity to give your clips extra life) – stood out as a great piece visually. But it was the song that stuck with us.

In the end, Fahey’s song “Soldier” came in at #7 in the January 2020 competition, but we’re excited to share the video with you today as our winner, and our track of the day.

You can also view the video over on Loudar.com. And while you’re there check out the competition for February 2020!

The video, which is also an Official Selection of the 2020 London Music Video Festival, was filmed, directed and edited by Joel Devereux. Joel also plays guitar in Fahey’s project, and Shell Sable joins on bass guitar.

This post is part of a one-off sponsored competition, though the editorial choice was purely our own.
