Track of the Day: Don West “Equaliser” (2020)

Our track of the day is “Equaliser” and comes from Sydney artist Don West. The song has a classic bluesy feel to it. West’s raw and rich vocals carry an emotional truth to this track. Hayley Mary from The Jezebels provides some soaring vocals over the top.  The song was apparently inspired by a bank-robbery scene in a Guy Ritchie film. I’ve got to say the vocal style fits the theme like a glove. “Equaliser” follows on from his first single “Money”, which was released in November last year.

It’s hard to believe that he only came onto the scene late in 2019. He played his first show supporting Lime Cordiale before he had released any of his music. Before the year was out West had a sold-out show at the Metro (Lair). He is a man on the move. He was recently signed to the Falcona Management artist roster, which includes the likes of DMA’s, Alison Wonderland, Crooked Colours, and Grace.

“Equaliser” was produced by Scott Horscroft (Paul Kelly, The Presets, Middle Kids).

No doubt there will be more music released from Don West this year. We are looking forward to it.

Don will be playing the Wine Machine Festival in March around the country. Get your tickets HERE
