Tkay Maidza links up with Killer Mike for “Carry On”; drops national album tour dates!

Life’s pretty sweet for Adelaide rapper Tkay Maidza. She’s just dominated her first proper run of European festivals and has recently announced that she’ll be on tour with What So Not in the US before this year is out. For Australian fans, Tkay hasn’t forgotten them, with a highly anticipated BIGSOUND set bringing her back to Brisbane next week, while her debut album TKAY is now going to send her around the country in November before wrapping things up at the Falls Festival over New Year’s.

A lot to take in but while you process, get your ears around the last slice of material from Tkay in her new single “Carry On”. She’s been known for linking up with some of the best producers in the game recently but on this one, she brings Run The Jewels legend Killer Mike out to dish up a verse while Tkay herself heads into strong Santigold-sounding territory.

Interviewed by triple j this morning, Tkay commented on Killer Mike’s guest spot, noting that the song sees him take on a bit of a big brother type role as she goes through some troubles on the track. Not surprisingly, Killer Mike has been vocal about his appreciation of Tkay in the past, praising her style and talent when Run the Jewels were last in Australia, as well as name-dropping the young artist in a lecture back in the US.

Take a listen to “Carry On” below and note the tour dates! Midas.Gold and Sable are jumping on board for this bad boy too – unmissable.
