Ball Park Music is back and they’re better than ever. Almost three years since the release of their last album, the brilliant Weirder & Weirder, the Brisbane legends return with their eighth studio album Like Love, accompanied by a huge national tour.
Scheduled for a Friday 4 April release, Like Love is named after its heartfelt title track, an acoustic masterpiece that is sure to soundtrack plenty of first dances and entries to weddings over the coming years. Following “Like Love”, the band has released new single “Please Don’t Move to Melbourne” as the album’s second single, coinciding with the announcement of a nine-date national tour (supported by Bean Magazine), with a couple New Zealand shows thrown in for good measure.
With its origins coming from many moons ago, “Please Don’t Move to Melbourne” is inspired by the time when many friends of the band were departing Brisbane for greener pastures down south. Despite its age and stranger than usual construction, the band believes “Please Don’t Move to Melbourne” truly to be one of the favourite song they’ve ever made.
It looks like Ball Park Music has managed to hit gold once more, with their headline tour poised to be one not to miss when they head out across the country this May and June. With tickets on sale from Tuesday 11 February, you’d be mad for missing out on tickets to one of Australia’s greatest live bands.
