The Avalanches are returning to Australian stages in February and March 2027, announcing a six-date national tour that will include a Melbourne hometown show at Royal Botanic Gardens and a Sydney date on the iconic Sydney Opera House Forecourt.
For more than 25 years, The Avalanches have remained one of Australia’s most distinctive electronic acts, building an internationally recognised catalogue through their unique approach to mixing and left-of-centre collaborations. Their landmark debut Since I Left You redefined sampling into something of a sonic collage, while subsequent releases Wildflower and We Will Always Love You have continued to build upon the group’s signature sound.
The tour announcement arrives just in time for the release of their newest record No Bad Memories, out on 16 October. Drawing inspiration from advertising, technology and memory, the album sees the group turn forgotten technology and obsolete hardware into the foundations of a new sound. As co-founder Robbie Chater explains, the record began with “rhythmic experiments using the sonic leftovers and hallmarks of the technologies we grew up with”. Across the record, The Avalanches are joined by an impressive bunch of collaborators, including Karen O, Jamie xx, John Glacier, Rivers Cuomo, Panda Bear, Barry Can’t Swim, Ryoji Ikeda and Haruomi Hosono.
The group have already shared a number of tracks from the album throughout 2026, including “Every Single Weekend” with Jamie xx, “Blue Shadows” with Karen O, and “Can’t Get Over Losing You” with Portraits of Tracy.
Though a mainstay in the Aussie music scene, The Avalanches are showing no signs of slowing down. They’ve been making their way back onto stages internationally, with appearances at Primavera Sound and two sold-out shows at London’s Roundhouse, before returning to Australia for a series of rare smaller performances. A surprise show at Sydney’s Club 77 saw fans lining the street outside the Darlinghurst venue in the hope of catching the group in a packed, sweaty room.
“We’re crazy excited to be back on home soil playing these shows in Australia. We can’t wait to be back in a room with people and seeing where the night takes us. We’ve got a lot of new music we’re excited to play, alongside some old favourites, and we can’t wait to spend a few nights making some beautiful noise and memories together.”
Joining the tour is Australian-born, London-based producer HAAi, whose sound moves between club music and injections of electronic influences. Having performed everywhere from Coachella to Glastonbury, HAAi’s new 10-track club LP DIGITiSE, also arrives soon, on 9 October via Mute Records.
