Single of the Day: Ziggy Ramo “YKWD” (2017)

We’ve loved being able to learn more about young Ziggy Ramo this year; from his initial wave-making tunes on Unearthed to his ridiculous sets at BIGSOUND this year, the WA hip hop artist has got a bright 2018 in front of him, just going off what this year has been like.

His new single is as hard hitting as previous material; “YKWD” (You Know We’re Done) is provocative and edgy, much in the same vein as “Black Thoughts” and “Same Script”. As Ziggy explains, “YKWD” is also a dedication to the late Elijah Doughty.

“With permission from EJ’s family,” Ziggy explains. “”YKWD” is also a dedication to the dances their 14-year-old son, sibling, cousin, nephew and friend will never get. Elijah was robbed from the chance to see live music. So many experiences have been stolen from him, but we have the power to speak his name in love. Each time we dance to this song, we have the opportunity to dance in the name of unity and love, allowing EJ’s spirit to live forever.”

Catch Ziggy on stage in WA this November and December!
