Single of the Day: Neighbourhood Youth “Atlantic” (2016)

Moody, full of punch and a vocal grit that leaves an impression, Neighbourhood Youth‘s new single “Atlantic” definitely struck a chord with us. Taken from the quartet’s upcoming EP, “Atlantic” saw the band link up with producer Greg Rietwyk again at Tender Trap Studios to record this slice of indie rock – a definite progression for the band in terms of songwriting and arrangement.

We’ve seen what Neighbourhood Youth have been capable of doing as a group of musicians on previous singles, notably “Feel Nothing”, and “Atlantic” feels like the band themselves even know that they’ve hit upon a creative dynamic that is expressive and fruitful; the musicianship is refined, the production slick – “Atlantic” is a well composed effort and definitely a great omen for the rest of the year for the band, no doubt about it.
