Silverchair’s Chris Joannou links up with Reverb in launching online store

Fancy yourself a massive Silverchair fan or perhaps you’re a bass player/enthusiast looking to get your hands on some new kit? Reverb’s got just the news for you today. Silverchair’s Chris Joannou and the music gear website have teamed up in launching The Official Chris Joannou of Silverchair Reverb Shop – an online store where the bass player will be selling gear that has seen years of tour life and sessions in studio.

Acknowledging his love of the gear, Joannou has also admitted that since he’s doesn’t play anymore, his favourite pieces deserve some more love from other musicians willing to take them in.

“The gear for sale in my Reverb shop needs to go to a loving home — especially the bass guitars that have been with me on tour. They’re like family to me…they all have names. They’ve been with me for so long, toured all over the world with me, they’ve seen me at my best and at my worst. But I’m no longer using them and it’s time for someone else to enjoy them.”

The online store includes some prominent items, including Joannou’s white Fender Precision Bass “Whitey”, as well as his 1975 Natural Fender Precision Bass “Phil”. Both were used during the making of Young Modern, Silverchair’s final record. Along with these notable pieces, a Stuart Spector Designs NS4CR bass that was used on the road and in studio during the band’s Freak Show era is also on sale, along with many other pieces of studio equipment that have found their way into the hands of musicians such as Paul Dempsey, Josh Pyke and more.
