Impressed Recordings unveil Sydney store in time for Record Store Day

You’ve probably heard of Impressed Recordings as a boutique online record label. In recent news, they’ve announced they will have a physical presence in Sydney in Woolloomooloo. The creative hub will focus on the resurgence of vinyl records.  Just in time for Record Store Day on April 20th, they will have a number of exclusive releases, including The WigglesJames JohnstonTasman Keith, The Terrys and more. There will be an awesome after-party on the Saturday, with a performance from Babitha, playing songs from her recently re-pressed debut album, Brighter Side of Blue.

Impressed Recordings began life as an on-line home to music lovers, with a recent coloured re-pressing of The Wiggles Yummy Yummy selling out in record time (pun intended). The latest EP from Royel Otis, the acclaimed Bar & Grill/Sofa Kings was also a highly sought after release. Despite only being around since 2023, they’ve definitely had their finger on the music pulse in Australia.

This all makes their latest brick-and-mortar venture even more exciting. They plan to offer a curated selection of new releases, second hand vinyl and a hand-picked selection of music related books. They see it as a music lovers hub with regular in-store events. Founder Luke Bevans cut his teeth with Apple Music and Universal Music and had this to say:

We hope our customers are empowered with a love of music when they listen to our vinyl and step into our space. We hope in Impressed, they find a music brand that speaks to their values of supporting musicians and being a platform to find new music they love.

Joining Luke is Georgia O’Connor, a seasoned musician and brand manager turned artist manager, and artist manager turned music industry lawyer Troy Barrott. Between them they have a real passion for music and hope that other music lovers will also share that passion.
