Rap-A-Lot Records founder James A. Prince to deliver SXSW Music keynote in March!

SXSW Music has announced another keynote speaker for its 2016 programming to join producer Tony Visconti, this time heading into the hip-hop world in welcoming Rap-A-Lot Records founder James A. Prince to the festival and conference! To be interviewed by rapper Bun B on March 17th at the Austin Convention Centre, the company’s founder and current CEO will no doubt be a figure on the SXSW Music line up that many hip-hop fans are not going to want to miss.

From the start-up of the label out of Houston in the 80’s to the fostering of careers including Scarface, the Geto Boys and Devin the Dude through the years, Prince’s influence has long been felt as Southern hip-hop continued to snowball in popularity and impact within the wider genre. Of course, most recently, his team up with son Jas Prince in discovering a little known artist named Drake when he was posting tunes on Myspace back in the day will long be a successful note on the resume – it’s going to be great to sit in on this special keynote and in conversation session!

More SXSW Music keynotes are still to be announced – keep an eye on SXSW‘s website for more updates!
