Photo Gallery: Bello Gala Night – Bellingen, NSW (11.07.19)

The Bello Winter Music festival got off to a triumphant start last night with the Opening Gala. The gala night is held in the memorial hall, and is made up of abbreviated sets from many of the artists of the festival. As is tradition, Mandy Nolan is the MC, and despite her attempt at offending just about every northern regional town in NSW, keeps getting invited back. For good reason, she has the room in stitches.

After a welcome to country, particularly poignant given it’s NAIDOC week, the first act was Joe Newton from Dorrigo. Great guitar work and story telling, it was a good start to the night. Leah Flanagan reminded us why she is such a favourite. Miss Friby, well, just check out the photos for a suggestion of what she brings to the table. The Ethno Folk Orchestra is a collaboration of young folk artists from around Australia and abroad, and are a formidable collaboration.  Gleny Rae Virus, Archer and Claire Anne Taylor combined effortlessly and the night was brought to a close by festival favourites Hat Fitz and Cara.

There are still a few tickets available for the rest of the festival. This is one of the most welcome and diverse music festivals in Australia. Check the website here
