US rockers Halestorm to head Down Under following new album Back from the Dead

Grammy-winning US hard rock band Halestorm have announced a tour of Australia and New Zealand in February 2023 following the release of their fifth studio album Back from the Dead, released 6 May via Atlantic Records.

Returning Down Under for the first time since 2019, Halestorm will be stopping by Auckland before making their way down the East Coast at Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney next summer. The Pennsylvania quartet – formed by vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Lzzy Hale and her brother Arejay Hale on drums as children in 1997 – are praised for their explosive live shows and exceptional musicianship as one of the best rock acts of this generation.

Back from the Dead is their first studio album since 2018’s Vicious, however the band have satiated fans in other ways during the touring shutdown of recent events. The offerings of the past two years included stripped versions of select tracks from the previous record in 2020, an EP titled Reimagined with alternate renditions of old favourites, as well as the 2021 single ‘Long Live Rock’.

The new album is comprised of 11 solid tracks, featuring hit singles ‘Back from the Dead’ and ‘The Steeple’. Prior to its release, Halestorm also unveiled ‘Back from the Dead – Unplugged’ and an acoustic version of ‘The Steeple’, saving the bulk of the record as a surprise. While the album does have tender moments in soft cut ‘Terrible Things’ and piano ballad ‘Raise Your Horns’ to close, their trademark metal style is still prevalent in heavy anthems ‘Wicked Ways’ and ‘I Come First’.

Following the 10th anniversary of sophomore LP The Strange Case of…, they have also announced their debut graphic novel, Halestorm: Hyde Manor, due October 31st (Halloween) via Z2 Comics for all you Freaks out there. The book tells a tale of the band seeking refuge in a sprawling gothic estate perched on the remote end of the Oregon coast and the horrors that await them.

A tour to one of their self-admitted favourite places to play is an exciting prospect for the band and die-hards alike after a three-year wait. With their tour bus unexplainedly catching fire in the middle of the night while on tour in Massachusetts last January, Halestorm are determined to flip the year around and resurrect themselves. You can bet we’re all down for the ride!
