New Music Discoveries 11th March: Aldous Harding, OLI, Kate Miller Heidke and more

This week we have nine additions to our Discovery playlist, including one exclusive premiere. Our Track of the Week goes to New Zealand singer-songwriter Aldous Harding and her new single “Fever”. This is the second single off her forthcoming album, Warm Chris which will be released on the 25th March.  “Fever” features some sparkling jaunty piano, her warm delicate vocals, horns and simple percussion. It’s beautifully restrained, showcasing yet again the creativity of Aldous Harding, an artist from whom you should always expect the unexpected.

Kate Miller Heidke has released the incredibly moving “You Can’t Hurt Me Anymore (ft. Jaguar Jonze)”. It’s a song of survival, and references the abuse she suffered during her childhood from a relative. Jaguar Jones, who has committed so much in recent times to supporting those that have also been abused, added her raw potent energy to the track.

Also added this week is “Does That Hurt?”, the new single from London alt-pop songwriter OLI, which features Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan. It’s a captivating piece, with lots of little moments that capture the listener’s attention. The two vocals of OLI and Gahan compliment each other wonderfully. We really enjoyed the vibe on this one.

Baby Velvet is the solo project for Hannah Crofts, from ARIA award-winning quartet All Our Exes Live in Texas. “Atlanta” is the second instalment from her debut album Please Don’t Be In Love With Someone Else out May 27.

We also have “Come Over”, the new single from UK Americana band Morganway. This one definitely falls towards the rockier end of the Americana spectrum. There’s not even a banjo in sight. It’s big, bold and full of passion, with some strong vocals and harmonies. It’s the kind of song that is going to smash it live. No bad thing – seeing the band will be hitting up the Country to Country festival at London’s 02 this weekend.

Rounding out the playlist we also have new tracks from singer-songwriter T.H. Agyei and pop rising star Asher Knight.
