Interview: Fanny Lumsden talks writing on the road and exploring Australia through music

She’s more than a troubadour. In the last two years, Fanny Lumsden has been travelling the country and abroad learning more and being inspired by her surroundings and the experiences she’s been having along the way. With her sophomore record Real Class Act, out now, Lumsden has continued to carve out a hot spot for herself within the Australian music scene and during our recent catch up with Lumsden and her husband/creative partner, Dan Stanley Freeman, we find out more about the record’s creation.

“We knew we didn’t want to wait too long.” Freeman says of Real Class Act. “A lot of friends told us, ‘You really need to come and hit hard and quick with the second album to follow up on that first release’.”

“It was really full on though, smashing it all out really quickly.” Lumsden adds. “We were in the studio as we were crowdfunding, actually. It was more a strategic thing, that we wanted to get the second record out really quickly. I had so many songs that I’d written on the road and I really wanted to capture that.”

Real Class Act is released on September 22nd. Catch her on tour throughout September into March!
