Indiana chill-wave group Hoops announce debut album and share new single, “Rules”

Following up their critically acclaimed 2016 debut EP, Bloomington, four-piece Hoops have just announced their first full length will be coming May 5th on Fat Possum Records via Inertia Music. Titled Routines, the 11-track record will be a defining release for the band, being their first official recording in an actual studio (Rear House Recording in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with Jarvis Taveniere). Still, their warm, fuzzy bedroom-recording vibe remains, evident in the first cut from the album, “Rules”.

“Rules” is a sunny, chill-wave number that skips along effortlessly. It’s charmingly nostalgic, drenched into jangly Californian guitars and hazy vocals. By the time the honest chorus line begins to get stuck in your head, “I know I’m breaking all the rules this time,” it’s over. And you’re hitting play again.
