Hat Fitz and Cara, John Butler Trio, Sticky Fingers, Mama Kin and more Australians to join Kanye West at Ottawa Bluesfest 2015

We’re excited to be heading over to Ottawa Bluesfest for the first time this July, and in the last couple of weeks the festival has announced its massive lineup, with Kanye West among the many, many major names to grace the event’s stages from July 8th to the 19th.

The festival, as you can tell from the names on the announcement, is far from a Blues only affair, capturing some of the biggest artists in the world from all genres. At 11 days with some 300,000 festival attendees, it’s also become one of the world’s biggest events, having emerged from humble beginnings in 1994.

Quite a few prominent Australian acts are featured the initial announcement, with Iggy Azalea, Keith Urban and John Butler Trio among the top acts on the list. Newtown boys Sticky Fingers also make the cut, playing alongside another Australian outfit, Hat Fitz and Cara on the 12th of July. Butler’s partner Mama Kin features as well, and she’ll be performing on the 14th alongside Hamish Anderson, who recently appeared at our SXSW pop up venue.

The seven Australians join a diverse list that includes the likes of Future Islands, METZ, Canned Heat, Jason Aldean, Chvrches, The Tragically Hip, Chance The Rapper, Black Lips, Deep Purple, Shuggie Otis, The Tea Part Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Porter Robinson, Black Mountain (a personal favourite), Lynyrd Skynyrd, Run The Jewels, The Gaslight Anthem, Purity Ring, Interpol, Simple Plan, Nas, Dropkick Murphys, Mother Mother, Paul Oakenfold, “Weird Al” Yankovic (because why not?)… and the list goes on and on…
