The Chris Commerford Band hails from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. This five-piece soul-infused band is about to launch another heart-grabbing tune, this time in the form of “Sugar” and we are thrilled to have the first listen before its release on Friday.
This single deals with infatuation, falling hard for someone and trying to win them over. This is a tale of true love, of sweet, heart-felt lifelong passion.
Commerford has totally nailed the R’n’B grooves, mixing it with the best of the genre. His voice is commanding, strong and soulful, and there are some sweet guitar licks on this one.
The finished track sounds polished and effortless, but it was a journey for the band to get to that point. Commerford began work on it four years ago, but couldn’t quite get the sound he was after. Tweaking the band lineup, and revisiting it, he was able to get the track to where he wanted it to be. As he explains: “The track always felt good when we played it live and even in rehearsals Sugar still had that great feeling, so after a lot of encouragement I knew I could trust what I felt deep down that we could make it into something special”
I’m pretty sure that fans of The Teskey Brothers, John Mayer, and D’Angelo are going to love “Sugar”.
The track was recorded and produced by Paul Cooper out of Band Booth Studio. Paul also added some sweet synth to the track to fill it out. Jan Skubiszewski at Red Moon Studios added some finishing touches.
“Sugar” will be released this Friday, 18th June 2021. In the meantime, enjoy our premiere.
They have the following gig lined up in August:
21st August – Dainton Brewery, Carrum Downs VIC
