We’ve got an absolute banger for you today – the moving new single and video from Sydney based heavy artist Part Paladin, “Brave This World”, featuring Mikaila Delgado of Yours Truly. Yes, we are thrilled to be premiering it ahead of its release tomorrow.
Part Paladin is the solo project of Sydney-based instrumentalist, vocalist, and producer Dux Newton. Dux is without a doubt one of the most exciting new artists in the world of heavy music. He is melding genres – he seamlessly blends alt rock with modern metal and more. There are some sweet melodies flowing which are spiced with grit and industrial textures. In “Brave This World”, the vocals of Mikaila add a brilliance and deep emotional energy to the track. The two of them sparring off each other works brilliantly together. Amongst the intensity and booming bass line, there’s an intimacy and warmth that is captivating.
About the track, Part Paladin writes: “Brave This World is a kind of self-pep talk — a reflection on internal battles, but also a call to push through them. It’s about overcoming insecurities, silencing self-doubt, and seeing things more clearly. Those metaphorical mountains shrink, and the clouds start to lift. It wrestles with frustration, but leans toward defiance and hope. There’s both anger and optimism in there — it’s two voices trying to steady each other.”
“It actually started as a voice memo — a rewrite of a song I first wrote as a teenager, full of angst. The mood stayed the same, but this version was reshaped by someone older, who’d been through what the original lyrics were only imagining. There’s more perspective now, more resilience.”
“I knew I wanted Mikaila on it from the start. I’ve been a Yours Truly fan for years, and she brought the emotion and vibrance it needed, especially that second perspective in the lyrics. It’s probably the most cinematic track I’ve ever produced, and one I’m genuinely proud of.”
We think he has nailed it. “Brave This World” is the first single from his debut album, Temet Nosce, which will be released on the 12th of September. The video was created by Tenth Dan and features some pretty awesome animation.
