We are thrilled to have the exclusive premiere of “Mess!”, the latest single from Sydney-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mihka Chee. This is the title track off her forthcoming EP which will be the follow-up to her 2017 debut EP, Both.
It’s a great fun upbeat tune, with a driving beat, vocals with just the right amount of sass, and frantic guitars. The song is about doing your best, worts and all. As Chee say “I may have made a mess, but baby it’s my best…”.
It’s two minutes forty-one seconds of a ripping self-appraisal leading to a stronger version of oneself. The opening guitars lay the groundwork, the drums take you to the front door and the turbo-charged vocals bring it home. I can’t wait to see this one live.
Fans of The Grates and Yeah Yeah Yeahs should find plenty to love here.
Originally from Auckland, Chee now calls Sydney’s Northern Beaches home. The track was recorded at Housefox Studios and was produced and mastered by Ryan Miller.
