Exclusive Single Premiere: Leila “Do Without” (2025)

Leila

If you’ve ever gone through a period of uncertainty or apprehension, then Canberra-based Country/Pop artist Leila has all the feels beautifully encapsulated in her earnest new single, “Do Without”, which we have the pleasure of premiering ahead of its release on Friday.

“Do Without” is a heartfelt journey, with her crystal clear vocals carrying the emotions of her dreams and reckonings on the future and the present. The song absolutely nails the feeling of uncertainty experienced during the late teens and early twenties.

It’s packed with good advice – “Appreciate the little things while they’re here / Don’t always look for the next best thing”. We could all do with adopting these as mantras.

Leila may have released only a handful of tracks, with her debut EP, Uncover, arriving in September last year; yet you get the feeling that this is a fully formed, accomplished songwriter and musician who has been releasing songs for years.

About “Do Without”, Leila shared with the AU: “The teenage years and twenties can be a real rollercoaster. We are discovering, learning and growing, all through so much noise. I remember this feeling all too well, and I wrote ‘Do Without’ when I felt that things were starting to fall into place, in the hopes that it would help others feeling the same way. The song is inspired by the journey of growth, healing, reflection and gratitude.”

2024 was a big year for Leila, having released her debut single “Missing Piece” early in the year and her debut EP in the back half. She has kicked off 2025 performing to a sold-out audience at Melbourne’s Futuration. She has also been selected as a finalist in the ‘Mothertone Gympie Music Muster Talent Search’, which will take place in August 2025.

More music from Leila is promised later on this year, but in the meantime, do be sure to pre-save “Do Without” HERE.

You can keep up to date with Leila via her Website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music
