Exclusive Single Premiere: Jack Carty “Boab (Time Is A River)” (2021)

Jack Carty

Jack Carty has been charming audiences with his heart-warming indie-folk since 2010. A gifted storyteller, a wonderful guitarist and possessing a wide vocal range, his songs have a depth and humanity that resonates with the listener. We are thrilled today to be premiering “Boab (Time Is A River)”, the latest single from Jack, and the first taste from his forthcoming album, Wake To A Bright Morning that will be released in March 2022.

“Boab” starts with Jack’s signature guitar and vocals, before ramping up as the band comes into play. Beautiful harmonies help elevate the track to another level, with the interplay between the bass, drums and vocals seamlessly stitched together.

Of the track, Jack writes: “Boab is a song about time and the choices we make about how we spend it. It was written after a trip to Wyndham in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. There is a Boab there that gets called “The Prison Tree” & people have carved their names all over it, over time. I found my wife’s name carved into one of the branches & even though I knew she didn’t do it, it got me thinking about her, and distance, and how time is like a distance all it’s own, separating us from things that happened right where we are standing, long ago. I recorded it in London with some of my best friends from that part of the world: J.J Stoney on Keys, Fred Claridge on Drums and Lukas Drinkwater on Bass.”

Jack spent two years in the UK, where he worked, wrote and recorded many of the songs that will be on the upcoming album. It features performances from two stellar vocalists (and songwriters), in Georgia Mooney (All Our Exes Live in Texas) and Emily Barker. Based on what we are hearing with “Boab”, expectations are high indeed.

Enjoy our premiere, prior to its release on Friday, 22nd October 2021. You can pre-save “Boab (Time Is A River)” HERE.
