Exclusive Single Premiere: Isabelle Skye “Kaleidoscope” (2025)

Today on the AU review, we’re thrilled to premiere “Kaleidoscope”, the luminous new single from Naarm/Melbourne indie-pop artist Isabelle Skye. The track marks a stunning follow-up to her 2024 debut single “Fairy Dust”, further cementing her place as one of the most intriguing new voices in Australia’s alt-pop landscape.

True to its name, “Kaleidoscope” glimmers with shifting emotion and colour — weaving together vintage guitar tones, hazy synths, and Isabelle’s intimate, ethereal vocals. It’s a song that feels both timeless and modern, echoing the cinematic melancholy of Lana Del Rey and Mazzy Star, while nodding to the woozy bedroom pop of The Japanese House and Tennis.

The track captures “that moment in dating when everything feels bright and promising, yet their actions quietly start to unravel the truth behind their words,” she explains. “It’s the realization that your view of the connection doesn’t match theirs. To me, it’s like looking through a kaleidoscope—beautiful and captivating, yet fragmented and confusing, with reality shifting in unexpected  ways.”

Produced by Fabian Hunter, mixed by Hunter and mastered by Issac Barter, “Kaleidoscope” is a testament to Isabelle’s singular artistic vision — one steeped in nostalgia, tenderness, and quiet self-discovery.

This is only her second solo release, yet Isabelle has been writing and performing music since an early age. As well as her solo project, Isabelle has performed in various Naarm-based bands including Doe Eyes, China Beach and Shot By Jane. An Aboriginal artist, Isabelle’s creative world extends beyond music through her vintage clothing business, Lucid Skye Vintage, where her love of retro textures and aesthetics continues to shine.

“This is the first time I’ve released solo material that’s entirely written by me. It feels like a huge milestone, especially after dealing with self-doubt and anxiety,” Isabelle reflects. “The song explores miscommunication and heartache in dating, experiences I know many people share, and I hope listeners can relate and feel seen through it”.

With “Kaleidoscope”, Isabelle Skye proves once again that she’s crafting a sonic universe all her own — one that feels like a faded Polaroid, equal parts dreamy, wistful, and vividly alive.

There will be a “Kaleidoscope” single launch at The Retreat Hotel in Brunswick, with support from CCTV and Butternut Sweetheart on Friday, 14th November 2025. Get along and support live music.
