Exclusive Single Premiere: Death Skull “Stoned” (2016)

You probably will recognise Sean Cook from Newcastle punk rock, party starting group MAIDS. Today, he shows us a different side of his musicality, stepping out under a solo moniker in Death Skull. The first offering from Death Skull has come in the form of “Stoned”, which sees the songwriter get personal about drug dependency and the hold it had over his life.

The tune is rhythmic, while Cook’s vocal has a slight hypnotic drone to it that really makes you listen to the lyrics and follow where the song’s story leads.

“I stopped at a green light,” he sings, commenting on paranoia and the dangers he continuously found himself in during this dark period. As Cook explains, “Stoned” isn’t supposed to be a depressing song, rather one of triumph: “A song of conquering your demons, winning your personal battles and becoming a better person, with no regrets.”

Have a listen to “Stoned” below!
