Emily Wurramara set for large tour with new EP, Black Smoke

Groote Eylandt artist Emily Wurramara has released her debut EP Black Smoke – an exciting insight into a young talent moving forward with some great music tied both to the now and to the traditional.

An incredibly engaging and personal debut offering, Black Smoke sees Wurramarra singing in both English and her indigenous language of Anindilyakwa. Over six songs, Wurramara displays a canny knack for not only lyricism, but also musicianship as well. Linking up with David Bridie (My Friend The Chocolate Cake: Not Drowning Waving) for production, Wurramara also featured some class work by percussionist by Greg Sheehan.

Released on June 17th through Wantok Musik, Wurramara has been open about the place the language songs come from, “The language songs are definitely a dedication to my grandmother.”

Already, Wurramara has established herself as a seasoned performer and the industry has been turning its head favourably to this talented lady’s style. From the end of the month, Wurramara will be on the road to promote Black Smoke, heading to venues as a headliner as well as festivals in the NT and on the east coast too!

Don’t miss out on Emily when she’s on the road – a special talent just touching on a huge amount of potential.
