Australian rock royalty comes together for 2016 A Day On The Green tour

The traditional A Day On The Green tour format offers longtime fans of some iconic bands the opportunity to enjoy throwback sets of classics mixed in with current repertoire, in the surrounds of some of the country’s lush wineries. This year, the festival team has come out kicking once more, turning the focus on to the Australian scene as it powered through during the 90’s and early 2000’s.

On their artist announcement released today, the bill has been fleshed out by an ‘all killer, no filler’ list of artists including You Am ISomething For KateJebediah and Spiderbait, with The Meanies also confirmed to open proceedings at all events except Perth.

Says Paul Dempsey of the lineup, “I fell in love with all of these bands as a teen attending the fabled Saturday and Sunday arvo All Ages shows that were a fixture in many Melbourne pubs like The Corner Hotel, The Central Club, The Palace and The Hi-Fi. The raw power those bands radiated from the stage got my heart racing and my brain buzzing and gave me the kick I needed to get a band together and start making some noise ourselves.”

Kram from Spiderbait has agreed, “We’ve all played together many times over the years, watched each other’s gigs, partied and laughed, and contemplated the meaning of an artistic existence in this country. But we’ve never all played on the same stage and the same tour at the same time.”

This is understandably, not a tour to be missed, for any fan of Australia’s rock n roll culture – tickets are on sale for the November shows from 10am, June 14th through Ticketmaster!
