Album News Weekly: 4th March 2016

In This Issue: The month of March is bursting with releases and this is just the first Friday of many! There are a dozen wicked records available today including Aussie hip hop darling Urthboy right on down to the return of The Violent Femmes. We’ve even included an Honourable Mentions section to fit in the flood of music deserving a shout out this week, go scrolling and have a listen!

Urthboy

The Past Beats Inside Me Like A Second Heartbeat was released today through Elefant Traks / Inertia. Speaking about the album Urthboy stated “This project was to be released in 5 EPs, with each covering a decade between 1950 and 2000. The working title was Decades and the vision was to give life to the relationship between the past and present. Just like a million writers before me, I dreamt up a beast so daunting, that I spent three years trying to tame it. Everything changed when I wrote my family into the story.”

Låpsley

Southport-raised, London-based singer, songwriter and producer Holly ‘Låpsley’ Fletcher today reveals details of her debut album. The 19 year old will release Long Way Home on Friday 4th March via XL Recordings / Remote Control Records.

Tiga

Montreal techno legend Tiga has his album No Fantasy Required set for release today March 4th via Counter Records/Onelove, the album is Tiga’s first record in 7 years.

My Gold Mask

Chicago based indie electronic trio My Gold Mask have just shared their new album, Anxious Utopia – out March 4th, 2016 on Moon Sounds Records. Anxious Utopia is the band’s first release since 2013’s Leave Me Midnight, but is still packed with powerful songs and sparkling dance friendly synths.

Nada Surf

Nada Surf has announced the release of its new album, You Know Who You Are, out March 4th via Stop Start Music. Its the band’s eighth record and the first as an official quartet.

Hein Cooper has landed back in Australia to announce the release of his debut album The Art of Escape holding a breezy slice of summer acoustic pop, available on March 4th through INDICA / MGM.

Slovenly Recordings’ imprint Mondo Mongo proudly presents the Azimut LP from AVENUE Z – the latest exploration from French fuzz-punk powerhouse Magnetix, featuring the synthesizer wizardry of Catholic Spray’s Antoine Quincerot and plenty of fat and meandering keyboard ebb and flow.

WHITEFALL

Canberran Progressive Metalcore legends WHITEFALL are tomorrow releasing their debut EP, Origins today online and at shows, with the initial single release featuring Dan Tompkins of Tesseract.

Adan & Xavi Y Los Imanes

Adan Jodorowsky (Adanowsky) and Xavi Polycarpe (Gush) unite to form Adan & Xavi Y Los Imanes with their self-titled debut album out March 4th on Everloving and you can hear the lead single “Fuera El Dolor” b/w “Heartbeat” here:

Honduras

Honduras will release an EP, Gathering Rust, on March 4th. The 4-song EP demonstrates the development of the band as they hit the road for a full year of touring the US and Europe, with recent writing including elements of krautrock and psych to their already energetic tracks.

Violent Femmes

We Can Do Anything is the ninth album from Violent Femmes and is out Friday 4th March, available on transparent green vinyl (exclusive to Australia). Its the ninth studio album and first full-length collection in more than 15 years out through Fog Horn Records.

Vancouver based multi-instrumentalist Nicholas Krgovich has his future-pop LP The Hills out 4th March on Tin Angel Records.

srcvinyl is releasing the debut self-titled EP from LA’s Sun Drug on March 4th as part of their HiFi Vinyl EP series.

The Redhead’s Allegations is the new album from Chapell and comes out March 4th.
