A Tribe Called Quest will reunite for Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show this week

Largely considered one of the greatest hip hop groups of all time, A Tribe Called Quest will be reuniting this week for a special one-off performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album, the classic People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. The news came from the U.S today as numerous hip-hop media tripped over themselves in excitement, soon filling social media platforms with digital tears of joy.

Tribe’s performance coincides with a reissue of the 1990 LP, which will include new material like J Cole’s (as a producer) recently released remix of “Can I Kick It?”, Pharrel’s take on “Bonita Applebum”, and Cee-Lo Green’s re-work of “Footprints”, which includes a verse from the former Goodie Mob emcee.

The last time the world saw ATCQ on stage was 2013, when they performed in New York as the support act for Kanye West. Q-Tip then tweeted that the performance was their final as a group, breaking hearts around the world. Three years prior to that, the group were in Australia as part of a reunion tour that was very well received and sold out in a matter of hours.

Jimmy Fallon has secured the full line-up of Q-Tip, Phife Dawg and Ali Shaheed Muhammad for the performance, even managing to pull in Jerobi White, who was last seen on stage with ATCQ in 2010.
