Yo ho ho and a boat full of trolls, Sea of Thieves drops March 20

Microsoft have announced that their upcoming multiplayer pirate title, Sea of Thieves, will see release worldwide on March 20, 2018. The game, created by legendary developer Rare Ltd, has seen multiple technical alphas and has been the sleeper multiplayer hit at numerous gaming trade shows over the last two years.

Pre-orders for the game are now live on the Xbox Store and snagging one for yourself will guarantee you access to a pre-order only closed beta period prior to launch.

The last time we got to take Sea of Thieves for a spin was at PAX Aus this year and what a good time we had. This is a game that allows me to steal an entire ship from the enemy team, sail it directly into a huge storm and then proudly stand atop her bow, resolutely playing my accordion into the wind instead of help batten down the hatches and, frankly, no game has ever understood me better.

If you’re interested, there’s also a Sea of Thieves wireless Xbox One controller coming down the pipe in February that looks extremely nice. Check it:

Seriously, dang. Really nice, Microsoft. The controller will set you back $99.95 AUD and it drops on February 6, 2018.

Sea of Thieves is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 platforms.
