The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a Nintendo Switch launch title, drops truly epic new trailer

Nintendo saved their biggest and best trailer for the end of their much-hyped Switch event this afternoon. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was not only the biggest moment of the entire presentation but it closed out the sometimes fun, sometimes odd presentation on a stirring note. See the new trailer for yourself after the jump.

The trailer ends with the game’s release date — March 3, 2017 — putting it day-and-date with the Nintendo Switch console itself. This will be the second time Nintendo has had a Zelda title ready to go at the launch of a new the machine, the last time being The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess‘s release with the Wii in 2006.

Another parallel is that Breath of the Wild will also launch on the prior system, the Wii U, just as Twilight Princess also launched on the Gamecube. History repeats.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the Nintendo Switch console will both launch on March 3, 2017.
