PAX Aus 2026: Our top 5 indie games

PAX Rising is always one of the biggest highlights of PAX Aus. Finding that hidden gem in the sea of games can be a daunting task, but we havedone the leg work for you and found some of the best games coming soon from an up and coming game team.

It is important to note that these are in no particular order.

5. Finn & Archie

This game comes from Octaine Arts and is a neo noir murder mystery. You take control in a 2 player co-op game as cop Jake Finch and/or his dog Archie.

Coming out of W.A., the game has already been a winner at the PAX Digital Showcase awards which were held earlier in the week.

You interrogate suspects, look and analyse clues as you work through cases. If you are player 2, you take control of Archie and essentially act as a sniffer dog, following scents and tracking down clues. It is set in the 1930’s and looks like an absolute blast.

4. Silver Lake National Park

Once again W.A. coming in clutch with what I think might be the longest title for a game at PAX Rising this year is the title Silver Lake National Park: The Last Werewolf.

It is an expansion of The Last Werewolf game and is a cosy story-driven supernatural game. It is set in the same world as The Last Werewolf and the devs confirmed that you don’t need to play the first game to understand this one.

The basic premise is werewolves who are dealing with dual identities, this game sees you take control of Ranger Logan who is secretly hiding a sanctuary for supernatural folk inside a national park.

3. Pie in the Sky

Ok so you know how I said that these are in no particular order? I think I might have to make an exception here. The premise, you play as a magpie in Australian spring.

You go on an absolute rampage swooping and causing nothing but chaos. It has a beautiful hand drawn art style and looks like an absolute great time to play. Don’t sleep on this one!

2. Tiny Transit

An open world cosy adventure, you can drive around Tiny Island controlling a seal who is a overnight delivery driver.

The gameplay is fun and the graphics are incredibly cute. You race across the island delivering packages, the line-up for this game was massive and once I got my hands on it, it was easy to see why. Definitely keep this one on your radar.

1. Burger Bois

Returning to PAX for another year, the game looks like it is coming along splendidly. The premise is as it sounds, you are running a burger truck and must create the perfect burger and make sure you satisfy your guests needs.

There are burgers you can create completely on your own, some customers will be very specific about what they want. It’s all done with a beautiful cartoon style you will fall in love with.

A huge congratulations to all the titles and developers featured at PAX Aus 2026 this year. It was a blast.
