Walking up to the Nintendo booth at PAX Aus 2026, the first thing that catches your eye is the hands on demo of 007 First Light.
The game was recently delayed until March 2027 with the dev’s stating more work needed to be done so I was very curious as to how much we could see and play.
The demo follows the opening of the game, the problem with this is, you are standing around watching a near 10 minute cut scene that you cannot skip.
It did get a little awkward, particularly with a growing queue behind you, thankfully the Nintendo team understood what was happening and didn’t rush you along.

When you do start playing, the performance was surprisingly good, It was smooth and looked beautiful on the handheld screen (we did play in handheld mode, not docked).
There was no major pop in or long loading screens that I could see and the game reinvigorated my love for this game all over again.
To be fair, the start of the game is at night time and everything is quite dark so it is impossible to see if there are any major imperfections here. From what I could see, the game runs and looks well for a port of this calibre, and any major issues are hard to spot in handheld mode.
You can read our full review of 007 First Light here, and the game is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
007 First Light will (hopefully) come to Switch 2 in March 2027.
