2K formally announces BioShock: The Collection

Following a series of leaked screenshots yesterday, publisher 2K have faced the music and dropped an official announcement trailer for BioShock: The Collection, a remastered omnibus of all three games in the series for current generation systems.

BioShock: The Collection will bundle the original BioShockBioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite, along with every last scrap of single-player DLC. For those who are into the theory and science behind game design, the collection is also getting director’s commentary tracks from creative director Ken Levine and lead artist Shawn Robertson.

The collection will also contain a number of featurettes on the making of the games, as well as some brand new content. Fans will now be able to tour a gallery filled with concepts that were not used in the original game, plus enter a number of challenge rooms. BioShock 2 will still get its excellent Minerva’s Den DLC but multiplayer is off the table.

BioShock Infinite, the third and final game in the series, will only see a remastered release on console. The PC version of the collection will come with the currently available version of the game as 2K deemed it already met the standard of current-gen console capabilities on release. Infinite will still come with its full suite of DLC, including both Burial at Sea episodes, Clash in the Clouds and Columbia’s Finest.

Australian dates and pricing have not been provided yet, but the collection has an RRP of US$59.99 so expect something similar out here. It is set for release on September 13 in the US.
