States of Blue: West Projections Festival launches this week

Earlier this week, Footscray’s States of Blue: West Projections Festival kicked off, with events running from now until September 11th. A joint venture between Wynter Projects and Victoria University, the festival will see 22 unique sites across Footscray illuminated by various projections and installations designed by local and interstate artists.

Artists presenting at the festival include Kit Webster, Paola Balla, Ego, and Skunk Control, with the chosen bars, laneways, businesses, and creative spaces lighting up nightly between 6pm and 10pm.

Artist presentations, guided walks, DJ sets, and more are all scheduled to run alongside the festival during it’s four week run.

On August 26th, a one off event will take place at Footscray’s Madden Square. Presented to celebrate Victoria University’s Arts Week, the evening will feature the Australian premiere of French artist Aline Brugel‘s Corps in Situ.
Brugel’s work will be joined by site-specific projections, roving performers, and Skunk Control’s Majestic Insurgence.

All events are free. Please see the Wynter Projects website or the festival’s EventBrite page for more information and site listings.
