7 Arts Events Not to Miss in Australia This Month (December 2016)

There may be relaxation, holidays and many other festivities on the mind of everyone during the month of December, but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go out and enjoy the best the art world has to offer, here’s what we think is the best of the bunch this month!

Opera Australia’s The Opera Gala & La Bohème

New Year’s Eve is Sydney’s night really. There is an eternity of fireworks and party-times alongside the harbour.
If something a little more chilled out within the Sydney Opera House itself seems a good pre-cursor to the night of revelry, then Opera Australia has you covered. They take over both the Joan Sutherland Theatre and the Concert Hall in the Sydney Opera House to stage two sensational performances of The Opera Gala & La Bohème

Conducted by Brian Castles-Onion and hosted by Jonathan Biggins, it’s a pretty majestic way to roll in 2017.

Babes in the Woods: Australian Purity Defil’d

An original Australian pantomime, Babes in the Woods: Australian Purity Defil’d is playing at Sydney’s Old Fitz with some intrigue surrounding its story of an Australian wowser and the battles of power and land.

A retrospective exhibition for a fashion brand that isn’t really feeling the retrospective vibe? Well with the DI$COUNT UNIVERSE folks (aka Nadia Napreychikov and Cami James), it’s a celebration regardless, and why not? With customers like Madonna, Beyonce, Rihanna, Rita Ora, Ashanti and more from the celebrity list of celebrities, there’s a weird, bright world to this small collective of esoteric fashion from Melbourne.

Em Rusciano – The Try Hard Tour

The strong, wily voice and comedic abilities of Em Rusciano have simply gone from strength to strength. This little pocket rocket of action has gone from performing small rooms at the Melbourne Comedy Festival to now this huge tour around Australia performing her latest single ‘Versions of Me’ and sharing other tidbits of her life at huge venues like the Enmore Theatre in Sydney and the Palais in Melbourne.
