Australian country-pop artist James Keith is preparing to release his uplifting new single “This Life” tomorrow, 24 July, and today we’re delighted to give you an exclusive first listen.
The final single before Keith releases his sophomore album, I Call It Magic When I’m With You, on 9th October, “This Life” is an energetic and heartfelt celebration of love, gratitude and finding a sense of home in another person. I’m totally loving the positive vibe of this one. It’s upbeat, joyous and a perfect reminder to find and appreciate all that is beautiful in life.
From the coastline of Sydney’s Northern Beaches to the country landscapes surrounding his hometown of Orange, NSW, Keith draws upon the places that have shaped him while recognising that the person beside you can ultimately matter more than the destination.
Warm, fluttering guitar tones sit alongside trap-country production, tender melodic moments and a buoyant, immediately memorable chorus. The result is romantic without becoming overly sentimental, balancing emotional vulnerability with the kind of easy movement and infectious optimism that invites listeners to sing along. “This Life” captures the freedom of knowing that home is not necessarily a place, but the person travelling beside you.
Keith explains: “[‘This Life’] is a song about love, gratitude and making the most of every moment together, because life really is better when you’ve got the right person beside you.”
Raised in Orange, Keith grew up working alongside his four brothers on the family farm that would become Mortimers of Orange vineyard. Music was a constant presence during those early years, before rugby league took him to Sydney’s Northern Beaches and ultimately music called him back home.
His 2024 debut album, Life Is Good Today, spent two weeks at the top of the ARIA Country Albums Chart, while the rallying “On Fire” found an enthusiastic audience among NRL supporters. Keith was also named a Top 10 finalist in the Toyota Star Maker competition in 2025.
“This Life” follows May’s “Cruel Game” and becomes the sixth and final single taken from I Call It Magic When I’m With You. Across the album campaign, Keith has continued to combine contemporary country-pop sounds with personal storytelling, family, regional Australia and the experiences that have shaped his life.
Joyous, sincere and ready for the open road, “This Life” is a fitting final preview of the new album and a reminder to appreciate both the journey and the people sharing it.
“This Life” is released everywhere on Friday, 24 July. You can pre-save it HERE. I Call It Magic When I’m With You follows on Friday, 9 October. Listen to “This Life” exclusively below:
