It’s been a big week for Melbourne/Naarm-based artist REDD. Last Friday, they released their debut mixtape RAUNCH., and shared the official video for their smoking new single “BAD DAYS.”. They also announced a RAUNCH. Mixtape Tour, including free headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney next month.
We’ve got the lowdown on the mixtape, the tour, and REDD. has put together a photo diary for the AU of the making of the mixtape. Hurrah! We caught REDD. performing at The Great Escape in Brighton last month, and they were a standout. High energy, engaging and a pulsating set of tunes that crossed genres. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch them live.
The nine-track mixtape takes a journey through indie R&B, pop-punk and dance, with the charm of REDD.’s unique take on life. It was recorded in Melbourne, Sydney, LA and New York. A veritable list indeed, indicative of the speed strides the talented artist is making in their career.
The mixtape was produced and written by REDD., and friends Lach Bostock (Maisonair) Tom Josephs, Laiko (Medium Build), New-Haven (Evie Irie, Allday), SB40, Stephen Mowat (Gretta Ray, Tyne-James Organ), Ciarrann Babbington (Bakers Eddy), Nate Delizotti (Vacations), Benjain Schandy (Jimi Somewhere), Ole Martin Jense (Jimi Somewhere), Julian Sudek (Royel Otis, Bag Raiders, Genesis Owusu) with Lars Stalfors (Role Model, The Dare, Lucy Dacus) on mixing.
You will be able to catch REDD. performing free shows in Melbourne at Lulie Tavern on the 5th of July, at Sydneys’ Vic on the Park on Saturday the 12th of July, and is also on the King Street Crawl in Newtown on Sunday the 13th. They are also supporting Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers on their East Coast tour next month. All the dates are below.
REDD.’s new single “BAD DAYS” is an upbeat emo-pop-rock odyssey. They share: “There are bad days, there are others where I am thinking I just might break, snapping under my weight. Everything wrong, check the world’s climate, I just sing songs, hoping I’ll survive it,”.
The clip was shot entirely on an iPhone 4 across the US and Australia. You don’t need a fancy phone to make a banging clip ,folks. It was co-directed by REDD. and Cole Surrey.
Take a listen to the rest of RAUNCH., and then take a dive into the photo diary which gives us some insight into the making on mixtape.
REDD. Photo Gallery – The making of RAUNCH.

This is when I went to meet with my team in NY for the first time and I realised how MASSIVE they were and we just in awe! Pretty surreal moment going from my bedroom to this!

Studio days call for big eats! Luckily this studio had a really cheap buffet in the same building so I splurged a lil and good a bit of everything!

Here’s a lil photo from the ‘BRITNEY IN 03.’ shoot! This was the first music video I had ever made and was under insane time crunch! We had 9 days to film and edit everything! Diamonds come from pressure

Me and my friends stressing out over the framing being off for alt he previous take! At this point in the day we had about an hour left and so many scenes to shoot. We got it done in the end though!

Lil screenshot from when I recorded the drums on bad days. This was the beginning of my obsession with drums. I had always wanted to learn but this was the first time I felt how much fun it could be!

This was also from the recording of Bad days where I was tracking bass. I was super nervous playing in front of someone else! At this point I had only been making music outside my room for a couple months. And only learning bass for half a year.

Content is queen! Me and my friends Cole shooting some extra content on the set of ‘FUGH SHI.’ it’s crazy how much you have to pack into a day of filming. Fun fact that house reeked.

So this photo is crazy!! It was the first time I was ever in a studio and in this session I free -styled what would become ‘JEANS SO BAGGY.’. Pretty surreal looking back at this photo. Even though it’s around 2 years old it feels like i’m looking at me as a baby.
