THE 1975

Six things the countdown clock on The 1975's official website could mean...

If you've paid a visit to the official 1975 website lately, you'll notice there is a countdown clock, set to reveal... something... in about 15 hours from the time of printing. Though it's likely a new single, video, album or tour announcement, we thought we'd have a bit of fun with some other things the boys in the 1975 could be up to... here's what we came up with:

Sam and Jack Weaver share 10 tunes that have helped influence their work as Ocean Bones!

Sam and Jack Weaver aka Ocean Bones, are the Darwin duo we've introduced you to recently. Having formed in a music scene where originality is well-supported but is bound by their isolation at the same time, the duo have developed a musical output that represents the music they've grown up making and also tunes that have been influenced by a wide range of Australian and international artists. From hip-hop to hardcore music, these two have got quite the diverse palette. We got in touch to see which songs they're currently digging and the artists who have been influential on their musicianship.

The Waifs announce tour, The Drones add Sydney show and The 1975 tour is selling out fast

Western Australian band The Waifs return in 2015 to celebrate the release of their seventh LP, Beautiful You with a national tour starting in their home town. East Coast dates will be released soon, so keep an eye out in the coming weeks.

The 1975 eye up a 2016 Australian return!

On their tour of Australia at the beginning of 2015, The 1975 found out just how large their Australian following had become following two small club shows in the previous year. Selling out theatre venues with fellow Splendour in the Grass debutantes Circa Waves, Matty Healy and his band brothers had girls flailing helplessly in the thousands. Today, The 1975 have announced a new run of dates for January 2016 - no doubt some similar memories are going to be made in the New Year.

Album Review: Circa Waves - Young Chasers (2015 LP)

Young Chasers is the energetic first album from British surfy-pop-rockers Circa Waves. The band formed in the sunny seaside town (jokes it’s England) of Liverpool in 2013 and has had a swift rise to fame since then. The lads have already made it to our shores playing Splendour in the Grass last July and supporting The 1975 on their last Australian tour in January.

British sensations The 1975 bring their pop tunes to a sold out Hordern Pavilion and brought fellow countrymen Circa Waves along for the ride. Evelyn Tjia was there and brings you these photos:

Live Review: The 1975 + Circa Waves - Hordern Pavilion, Sydney (16.01.15)

It had been a long time since I’d attended a show at the Hordern Pavilion, and I didn’t expect the big return to be for such an oddly mixed bill - by arena standards at least. A massive turnout at the Enmore in 2014, and one sold out show at the Hordern “forced” Manchester rockers The 1975 to extend the invitation to another Hordern-load of fans, with their friends Circa Waves tagging along for the ride.

Live Review: The 1975 + Circa Waves - Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide (10.01.15)

I'm still struggling to figure out how The 1975 have managed to cultivate this cult-like following in Australia over the past year - the British band haven't enjoyed much radio play here, and yet they've managed to move so may tickets on this, their first headline Australian tour, that extra shows had been announced in Melbourne and Sydney plus an additional Adelaide show that hadn't been featured on the original bill.

Lauren Connelly brings us photos from The 1975's stellar show at the Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide last night, accompanied by Circa Waves. See her gallery here:

Circa Waves to support The 1975 on Australian tour dates!

It's going to be a British onslaught when The 1975 return to Australia in January, especially now that Circa Waves have been announced as their national support act! Both bands were last in Australia for Splendour in the Grass this year, with the trip marking Circa Waves' debut shows in the country. Since then, the two went on to perform a string of sold out shows through the UK in September, so it's only logical that they combine their forces again and bring it back to Aussie fans!

The 1975 first band to take part in Rdio Sessions

The Australian leg of music service Rdio has announced the first band to take on their recently established "Rdio Sessions", a new series of live and intimate recordings available exclusively on the Rdio website. Focused on both up-and-coming and established artists, the special sessions are set to showcase intimate, live performances from a great range of musicians, and the first to take this on will be mega popular UK indie-rock quartet The 1975

New Music Video: The 1975 "Heart Out" (2014)

The 1975 have released the video for "Heart Out", their final single from what has been an incredibly strong debut album for the young Brits. Directed by the band's frontman Matthew Healy and Adam Powell, the music video is a cute clip featuring younger versions of the band themselves. You may think 'little Matt' is resembles the grown up version remarkably and you'd be right, it's his brother.

The 1975 announce more shows for Sydney and Melbourne due to high demand!

The 1975 are giving their Australian fans more and more reasons to love them, following on from the announcement that they'd be playing an Adelaide show on their January Australian tour next year, the British lads have now announced extra shows for Sydney and Melbourne. The original Sydney date at the Hordern Pavilion has sold out, but never fear, you've got a second chance at seeing one of the most hyped up bands out of the UK this year - details below!

The 1975 announce Australian return and NZ debut with January 2015 tour!

Jumping on the burgeoning love affair with Australian crowds which has only grown stronger with their recent Splendour in the Grass visit, The 1975 have announced that they'll be returning to this part of the globe next year! The Brits will be touring Australia and New Zealand in January for some massive shows bound to sell out.
