MxPx are one of those bands who hit the scene on the back of the punk rock explosion of the mid 90s. With catchy hooks and pop punk roots, the band were instantly a favourite not just down here but around the world. Twenty years on and the guys are still bashing out those chords, albeit with a different line up, but still fronted by main songwriter, bassist and vocalist Mike Herrera. I caught up with Mike to chat about the reasons for the line up changes, his memories of Australian tours and why he thinks Soundwave is one of the best festivals in the world.
In this issue MXPX announce 2013 tour, Battleships to hit Melbourne, Peter Murphy at the Gov and much much more! Much.
MXPX here in March 2013!
Punk's not dead, it just got a little older/wiser and had some kids. Celebrating 20 years ripping out short and fast tunes MXPX have announced some shows for March 2013. Repeat visitors to these shores expect fans old and new to be turning up to the shows.
Wednesday 6th – Brisbane – The Zoo [18+]
MxPx turned 20 this year, no not the guys, but the band itself, and to celebrate that and their first full length album in what has been a long five years the boys are heading to our shores again for a March 2013 tour.
Taking in Brisbane (Mar 6), Sydney (Mar 7), Adelaide (Mar 8) nd Melbourne (Mar 9 and 10), tickets for the tour go on sale 9am October 31st through metropolistouring.com and halomusic.com.au.
MxPx and The Ataris have been on the pop-punk scene for as long as I can remember. A noticeably older crowd filled the East Brunswick Club on this freezing cold Melbourne night, but they were as passionate as any crowd of fifteen-year old fan kids I've ever seen.
