Live Review: Melbourne Ska Orchestra + The Cheap Fakes - The Tivoli, Brisbane (11.05.13)

After a great support from local boys Cheap Fakes, who played a slap bass that would make Howard Moon proud, Melbourne Ska Orchestra spilled onto the stage in a never-ending stream of brass and fedoras. It was a strong turn out for the bands first ever Brisbane show, however it's obvious to see how complicated and expensive it must be for this many guys to hit the road. The Tivoli stage heaving with 25 seasoned musicians was a sight to behold and they kicked things off with a cover of the Get Smart theme song, followed by "Lygon Street Meltdown".

Live Review: Melbourne Ska Orchestra + AuSkas - Metro Theatre, Sydney (03.05.13)

The by no means unsubstantial stage at the Metro was still technically empty, but exceedingly full with banners and music stands marking out the positions of Melbourne Ska Orchestra’s eighteen piece horn section. With the seven or eight other musicians who would join them, this stage would soon be brimming with a sea of high energy Ska. These guys are the business!
