Jinja Safari have really gone from strength to strength over the past two years. Having supported Miami Horror for their first public show, touring nationally with Art vs. Science, winning the triple j Unearthed competition to perform at Splendour in the Grass 2010, and getting airplay over in the UK, they’ve been on a rollercoaster ride since their inception.

Supporting their first full-length album, Australia’s very own Jinja Safari commenced a tour that saw near sold-out shows across the country. But how was it inside? Dave Roberts investigates.


Jinja Safari are once again chasing a little mischief around the country and are calling upon their nation-wide friends to help them find it. Just months after selling out virtually every nook and cranny of their “Mermaids & Other Sirens” tour, Jinja Safari are please to announce the “Locked By Land” tour – an adventure that will see them run amok across this great land in November.

We arrive at Splendour in the Grass for the first full day of festivities! In the first half of the day, we check out Sydney's Jinja Safari, up-and-coming artist Marques Toliver, Illy, The Kills, James Blake and more.

Jinja Safari bring The Mermaids & Other Sirens Tour to Sydney, at a sold-out show in the Oxford Art Factory.

Melbourne have proved that they are keen to jump aboard Jinja Safari’s Mermaids and Other Sirens Tour with the show at The Corner Hotel on Saturday 23rd July now well and truly SOLD OUT. The sitar wielding, bongo thumping group have now added a second show at The Corner Hotel on Sunday 24th July to keep up with their popular demand.

BIGSOUND CELEBRATES 10 YEARS WITH HUGE LIVE MUSIC ANNOUNCEMENT
Australia’s biggest celebration of breaking artists and industry networking has reached a new milestone with the first announcement today of its BIGSOUND LIVE program, boasting some of the country’s hottest acts.

Boy & Bear’s sold out shows at the Metro Theatre were a great chance to catch some very talented emerging Australian acts. The demand for these shows, along with The Middle East’s sold out show a few weeks later at the same venue, is a great sign for Australian music.

The night began with the softly-spoken Emma Louise, the talented artist hailing from Brisbane. This was not a gig to skip the support acts, with Emma Louise beginning what was to be a great display of Australian music. Despite starting two hours before the headline act, Emma brought out a considerable sized crowd, and not just those simply wanting to snag a prime position.
