Ah, the weekend is just about over, but that doesn’t mean your entertainment has to end. Here’s a look at our picks for the best TV on Australian Free-To-Air for the first half of your work week.

Monday February 23rd

The 87th Annual Academy Awards, LIVE on Nine from 12.30pm – Repeated on Gem, 8:30pm AEDT

Tune into the Oscars and enjoy the most glamorous award ceremony of the year. The one and only Neil Patrick Harris of How I Met Your Mother fame will host the lengthy show and no doubt add humour and showmanship to the evening. See who takes home the big prizes at the end of the night; will the favourites pull through or will there be a surprise upset?

No Country For Old Men, Ch. 7, 9:00pm AEDT

The Oscar-winning film features an all-star cast including Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin and Woody Harrelson. Set in rural Texas the violent drama follows hunter Llewelyn Moss (Brolin), who stumbles across a drug deal gone wrong and pockets the money. This action puts psychopathic killer Anton Chigurh (Bardem) on his trail. No Country For Old Men is brilliantly scripted by the talented Coen brothers and is well worth watching.

Tuesday February 24th

Vera, 7TWO, 8:30 pm AEDT

This quirky British crime show rests on the talents of Brenda Blethyn, who plays forthright DCI Vera Stanhope, solving murder mysteries in the stunning landscapes of Northumberland. With caustic wit and the help of her young sergeant Joe Ashworth (David Leon), Stanhope approaches each case with gusto. The series is based on the popular novels by British author Ann Cleeves.

How To Get Away With Murder, Ch. 7, 9:00pm AEDT

If you aren’t watching How To Get Away With Murder yet, you should be. Viola Davis is a phenomenon and it’s a treat to watch her in full flight. This episode, wonderfully titled ‘Smile, or Go to Jail’, focuses on Michaela (Aja Naomi King) who struggles with trusting her fiancé. It explores further the theme of the show, who can you trust?

Wednesday February 25th

Stephen Fry: Out There, ABC, 8:33 pm AEDT

The two-part 2013 documentary sees Stephen Fry explore attitudes to homosexuality in different parts of the world, starting in England where Fry meets Elton John and David Furnish. He then travels to Uganda where homosexuality is set to become a capital crime.

This Means War, Ch.10, 9:30pm AEDT

A fun romantic comedy to see you through Wednesday night, This Means War stars Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy. Hardy and Pine are CIA agents who start dating the same woman (Witherspoon). Antics ensue as each tries to win her over, while also keeping their CIA identities secret.
