It’s the same beach but a new era in the first full-length trailer for the all-new Baywatch

The red swimsuits are back, and so is one of television’s most recognisable franchises, with the first trailer for the new Baywatch offering audiences a glimpse at the sun-soaked action, beachside drama and familiar faces awaiting them when the series premieres exclusively on Stan in Australia from January 2027.

More than three decades after the original series became a global phenomenon, Baywatch is heading back to Southern California with an entirely new generation of lifeguards. The 12-episode action-drama promises to retain the high-stakes rescues, complicated relationships and plenty of seaside spectacle that made the original such a television staple, whilst introducing contemporary stories and characters.

Leading the charge is Stephen Amell (Arrow) as Hobie Buchannon, the once-rebellious son of David Hasselhoff’s legendary Mitch Buchannon. Now a Baywatch captain himself, Hobie has traded his wild-child reputation for the responsibility of protecting the coastline, although his carefully managed world is thrown into disarray when his daughter Charlie Vale (Jessica Belkin) unexpectedly arrives, determined to follow in the family’s lifesaving footsteps.

The new series also stars Hassie Harrison (Dangerous Animals) as Nat, Shay Mitchell (TV’s Pretty Little Liars) as Trina, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, TikTok personality Noah Beck as Luke and Brooks Nader as Selene, forming the next generation of lifeguards tasked with keeping Southern California’s beaches safe.

And whilst the reboot is looking to establish its own identity, longtime fans can expect a healthy dose of nostalgia.

David Chokachi is returning as Cody Madison, whilst fellow original cast members Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin and Kelly Packard will make guest appearances as Shauni McClain, Jack ‘J.D.’ Darius and April Giminski, respectively. Social media personality and former gymnast Livvy Dunne will also make her acting debut in a recurring role as Grace.

Originally premiering in 1989, Baywatch became one of the most widely watched television programmes in history, reaching audiences in more than 200 countries and reportedly attracting over a billion viewers each week at the height of its popularity. Headlined by Hasselhoff, the series helped turn the likes of Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Yasmine Bleeth and Jason Momoa into internationally recognised stars, cementing its place in pop culture history.

With its combination of familiar franchise DNA, fresh faces and a new generation of beachside heroes, the revived Baywatch is hoping to make another splash with audiences when it premieres exclusively on Stan in Australia in January 2027.
