The Week’s DVD Release Picks: Best of the Box (25th September 2015)

It’s time to grab a box set and catch up on some of the best shows on the box with this week’s DVD releases.

ARROW SEASON 3
This popular American comic-book series is about to start its fourth season, and it shows no sign of slowing down. Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) continues to fight for justice as the Green Arrow in Star City alongside sister Thea (Willa Holland) and girlfriend Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). Arrow is better than many of the superhero films airing this year, and Amell is a charming and enigmatic star.

GOTHAM SEASON 1
Keeping with the comic book theme, Gotham is FOX’s attempt at a Batman/Jim Gordon origin story. Starring Ben McKenzie (The O.C.) as Gotham Detective Jim Gordon, it explores the dark side of Gotham city, and includes origin stories for favourite villains, such as Catwoman (Camren Bicondova) and The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith). Throw extravagant and dangerous gangster Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith) into the mix, and Gotham has almost too many villains for its own good. The second season is currently airing in America.

SONS OF ANARCHY SEASON 7 (AND BOX SET, SERIES 1-7)
The final series of Kurt Sutter‘s Shakespearean bikie drama is finally released on DVD, with the tale of Jax Teller and his biker gang, the Sons of Anarchy, coming to a close. Stars Charlie Hunnam, Katey Segal, and Kim Coates, along with a host of other brothers of the SOA, come together for an explosive and deadly final season, which sees Jax spiralling out of control after the death of his wife, Tara (Maggie Siff), and his mother Gemma dealing with the guilt of her part in it.
