The trailer for the final Wolverine film Logan has been released, and it looks darker than ever

Marvel and 20th Century Fox have released the newest trailer for Logan, Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine film, and it looks refreshingly gritty and dark.

Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart depict a tired and scruffy Wolverine and Professor X in the brand new Logan trailer. Just shy of two minutes in length the trailer sets a whole new dystopian thriller tone for the popular Marvel franchise.

Minus the often over-the-top special effects we have grown to expect from superhero films, Hugh Jackman’s final betrayal of Logan is set to be the most memorable performance yet.

With his healing powers diminishing, the once indestructible Wolverine appears vulnerable, weak and bloodied. Set in the future Logan and Professor Charles Xavier, whose Alzheimer’s is hampering his memory, must come to terms with the loss of the X-Men. With the help of a young female Wolverine clone, Laura Kinney, Logan sets out to defeat Nathaniel Essex.

Logan will premiere in cinemas March 2
