The past and present collide for Hugh Jackman in first Reminiscence trailer

“Nothing is more addictive than the past”

Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy marks her directorial debut with the upcoming Reminiscence, a science-fiction laced thriller that has unleashed its trailer ahead of its August release.

Written and directed by Joy, the films follows Nick Bannister (Hugh Jackman, in a role specifically written for him), a rugged and solitary veteran living in a near-future Miami flooded by rising seas, who’s an expert in a dangerous occupation: he offers clients the chance to relive any memory they desire. His life changes when he meets Mae (Rebecca Ferguson). What begins as a simple matter of lost and found becomes a passionate love affair. But when a different client’s memories implicate Mae in a series of violent crimes, Bannister must delve through the dark world of the past to uncover the truth about the woman he fell for.

Also starring Thandiwe Newton and Daniel Wu, Reminiscence, which Joy has stated leans into the metaphorical nature of the science fiction genre, pertaining to its grand scale nature of what we have currently been experiencing as a people, is set for an August release worldwide.

Reminiscence is scheduled for an Australian release on August 19th, 2021.
