Teen rom-com/weepy The Fault in Our Stars and its talented star Shailene Woodley have dominated the 2015 MTV Movie Awards.

The ceremony, hosted by comedienne Amy Schumer, took place yesterday at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California. Schumer demonstrated her no-holds-barred style of comedy, leaving no celebrity unscathed during her monologue. Schumer displayed her traditionally-self-deprecating humour, and had Jimmy Kimmel help her during a Hunger Games-inspired dance routine to kick off the ceremony. The ceremony also included plenty of MTV craziness, including Aussie actress Rebel Wilson declaring that she’d shown President Barack Obama her ‘girl power’, Schumer and Amber Rose making out, and Zac Efron grabbing Dave Franco’s crotch on stage.

Aussie actress Rose Byrne took out an award for her role in comedy Bad Neighbours; Bradley Cooper won the Best Male Performance award for his portrayal of sniper Chris Kyle in American Sniper; Miles Teller presented the Trailblazer Award to Shailene Woodley for her recent work, which included Divergent; and Robert Downey Jr won the Generational Award, which was presented to him by his The Avengers cast-mates. Upcoming star Dylan O’Brien won three awards for his role in The Maze Runner, while Jennifer Lawrence won Best Musical Moment for her rendition of “The Hanging Tree”, featured in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part One.

The show also featured performances by American rockers Fall Out Boy, singer Tinashe, and Charli XCX, who is appearing at the Groovin The Moo festival around Australia later this month.
