The 2015 Spanish Film Festival has launched its full program, and its becoming clear that you’re a film aficionado of the Mediterranean kind you’ll be in for a real treat. Taking place exclusively at Palace Cinemas across Australia, the festival will feature 38 feature films and runs from April 21 until May 20.

Highlights include special guest Elena Naya, who is scheduled to appear in both Sydney and Melbourne to attend the screening of Opening Night film Spanish Affair. A record two million people saw the film in the fortnight following its release in Spain, a comedy that “mischievously pokes fun at cultural differences as it tracks a young southerner who tenaciously seeks to win the heart of a Basque girl”. Naya will also take part in a Q&A session in both cities following the screening of her latest film They Are All Dead, which sees her play a has-been pop star estranged from her son and haunted by her dead brother.

Festival Patron Rafael Bonachela (Artistic Director, Sydney Dance Company) is also proud to announce the Closing Night film Wild Tales. Directed by Damian Szifron, the film was recently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and won a Goya for the same category.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for the festival, with numerous films set to whet audience appetites with a dose of Spanish culture. So what are you waiting for?
